Cowboys sign UFL Standout after Workout. Add Linebacker Depth
The #Cowboys will work out All-UFL LB Willie Harvey Jr. on Tuesday, per source.
Harvey — who appeared in four games with the #Browns from 2019-21 — led the UFL in tackles and all linebackers in tackles for loss, passes defended and forced fumbles.

His workout must’ve impressed enough people in the building. The Cowboys signed the UFL standout to a contract after the conclusion of the spring season.

New Faces, New Numbers
Cowboys sign two UFL players before training camp in Willie Harvey Jr, and Gareon Conley. So we have to ask the important questions, what numbers are they going to wear?

Numbers:
Willie Harvey, Jr. - 55
Gareon Conley - 43
For Conley, and his likely position at CB, you hate to see the number 43. Some may like it, but I can’t get behind it.
For Harvey, 55 is a great choice.
New Faces, New Position Battles? (CB/LB)
With Harvey and Conley now signed, and expected to be at camp, does this present any new battles on the defensive side of the ball?
Willie Harvey Jr. | LB
Harvey has seen NFL action before, although not as much as you’d like for a bit older player. His impact in the NFL hasn’t been nearly as noticeable as his recent spring league seasons.
But that doesn’t mean he can’t compete for legitimate snaps at linebacker. Especially with the uncertainty at the position.
Damone Clark wasn’t great in 2024, DeMarvion Overshown is coming off a torn ACL, and we don’t know what the Cowboys have in Marist Luifau. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered.
So why can’t Harvey be that guy? Mike Zimmer as the wildcard allows anyone on the defensive side of the ball to step up. If Harvey is that guy in camp, he could easily find a way onto the roster.
Gareon Conley | CB
The Cowboys have made it a point to add real depth at cornerback. It’s a position that they been sure to upkeep year over year.
For 2024, the hope is that Trevon Diggs is CB1, Bland at CB2, with Lewis in the slot at CB3.
Behind those guys, it’s a toss up.
Nahshon Wright (2021 3rd Round Pick)
Caelon Carson (2024 5th Round Pick)
Eric Scott Jr. (2023 5th Round Pick)
Josh DeBerry (2024 UDFA)
Josh Butler (2023 FA Signing)
Can Conley compete with those guys? We’ll really have to wait and see. He was impressive and sticky enough in coverageto get a contract with Dallas. We’ll see if that translates to the field in Oxnard.
