the abysmal state of the Cowboys
Monday Night Football saw the Cowboys taking on a struggling Houston Texans team. Despite the Texans struggles, the return of Nico Collins and the abysmal state of the Cowboys had everyone positive with the outcome of this game (a Texans masterclass).
There isn’t a whole lot to cover with this game, as it was the
same poor performance we all expected.
The only way for the Cowboys to have a chance in this game would have been to shut down the run and make Stroud prove himself, as he has been struggling thus far. Spoiler alert, they didn’t come close. The game kicked off with a 45 yard touchdown run for Mixon – who went absolutely crazy against the Cowboys defensive unit, finishing with 109 yards rushing and 44 receiving with 3 TDs.
The Cowboys offense did nothing to help the defense, despite Rush’s inflated numbers (354 yards, 1TD and 1 INT). The only touchdown coming from a Turpin slant that he took for 64 yards. Rush also fumbled on a sack at Dallas’ 33, which Guyton tried to pick up and proceeded to fumble himself. Derrick Barnett ended up taking it to the house for a Houston touchdown. To add insult to injury, the coaching staff thought it was a great idea to attempt a fake-punt in the first quarter. The Texans were ready and waiting, thus promptly putting an end to it.
This game was just another reminder that this roster isn’t capable of doing anything serious; regardless of the injuries. It also once again showcased McCarthy’s incompetency as a play
caller. Having your backup QB attempt FIFTY-FIVE passes is not a recipe for success.
On the bright side, the Cowboys are now one loss closer to Ashton Jeanty season. Just kidding, they’re going to take on a project defensive-tackle
